Tarra Enterprises VP gives back to South Florida communities.
Lou Ella Jordan, vice president of Tarra Enterprises and former vice president of Girls II Women, has been named president of Girls II Women for 2015-16. She has been active in the organization since it was established by her daughter, Tarra Pressey, and others in 1997, and has served on its board for many years.
“Girls II Women gives girls from some of South Florida’s most underserved neighborhoods the motivation and resources to set and achieve educational and professional goals for themselves,” says Lou. “We have a lot of great activities planned for the girls this year, from our annual etiquette luncheon to a theatrical performance at the Kravis Center to educational seminars on public speaking, philanthropy, health and nutrition. As always, we are striving to help these young women build their self-esteem, knowledge, awareness and social skills.”
Girls become eligible to apply for participation in Girls II Women when they reach middle-school age. The organization currently serves Lake Shore Middle School in Belle Glade and Roosevelt Middle School in West Palm Beach. Other schools that the organization has supported include Pahokee Middle-Senior High School in Pahokee, Roosevelt Full Service Center in West Palm Beach, John F. Kennedy Middle School in Riviera Beach, and Glades Central High School in Belle Glade.
